In a unexpected collaboration that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has unveiled an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including free extra story content for Shadows players.

Peculiar Questline Uncovered

According to the official statement, "A mysterious confrontation pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh quest, where hints of banned practices and monstrous transformations reverberate through the darkness." The storyline presents a "oddly garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with venturing into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a hidden cult.

The adventure focuses on "bizarre experiments and a fearsome enemy" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Settings and Changes

The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through eras. The trailer finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Rewards and Bonus Features

Players who finish the mission will acquire an exclusive katana together with multiple objects secreted throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, including:

• Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa attire for Naoe
• Unique implements
• Survey Corps steed

Latest Free Story Addition

This release also brings the game's latest complimentary story content, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.
